Plain, medium or heavy — how pieces are priced
Ethnic wear is priced by how much handwork it needs. A plain silk or georgette saree is mostly fabric care; a medium saree has a zari border or light embroidery; a heavy saree or bridal lehenga has dense zardozi, stones, sequins or mirror work that must be cleaned around by hand. If you are unsure which category a piece falls into, send a photo on WhatsApp and we will tell you before pickup.
What to check before handing over a wedding outfit
- Show us every stain — food, haldi, mehendi and lipstick are common after functions and are easiest to treat when they are fresh.
- Point out loose stones, beads or hanging threads so they can be noted before cleaning.
- Hand over the full set — blouse, dupatta and can-can — so colours are cleaned and checked together.
- Send outfits soon after the event; stains left for weeks are harder to remove.
Storing silk and zari after cleaning
Wrap sarees and lehengas in a soft cotton or muslin cloth rather than plastic, which traps moisture in Mumbai’s humid months. Refold silk sarees every couple of months along different lines so the zari does not crack at the folds, and keep naphthalene balls out of direct contact with zari.
